Reasons for missing assignments

So I have not been uploading much here and I know I said I would put up the Murlock adventure assignment but I never ended up going because I broke up with my girlfriend who I lived with. It has hit me with a big blow which has made school suffer. I have been doing the assignments I know we have from home but I am going to be missing a few like the vanilla painting because I have been out of town with my family figuring things out.

DMA101 work

This is the work I completed for the DMA 101 illustration assignment. It chronicles some of the beard samplings through the ages with a knight, pirate, and modern day special forces! I like it!

Paper Zoo

Since I missed the class where everyone drew the backgrounds together I got them off of blackboard and drew up some animals of my own and put them on. Most peoples were just simple line drawings so that is how I decided to make mine. I really like these cute little animals. If only they were all that cute in real life!

Also, I missed out on the adventure downtown with everyone from class so I will be embarking on the photography mission tonight with my girlfriend. Hopefully I won't lose too many marks for missing the outing with the classmates.

another logo

So I was at home sick today so I decided to get some homework done. In DMA101 we needed to recreate another sports logo and I decided to do the grizzlies because I just like it. The first image is the one I used to copy from and the second image is my work.

T-Rex style!

This is the style guide I completed to go along with the tooth model I created. I think it turned out fairly well! Click the image to make it bigger and more readable.

my what big teeth you have - Part 2/2

So I applied the paint to the tooth and I think it came out pretty well! I am definitely not a strong painter like I have said before but I enjoy how this turned out. I was going for an old and fossily look and I think it turned out how I wanted it.

my what big teeth you have - Part 1/2

The building of the T-Rex tooth is being blogged!

Step 1!
I started out with a wire hanger and I bent that into shape as to accommodate the tooth. I then wrapped tinfoil around the hanger in a rough idea of the shape I wanted the final product to look like.

Step 2!
I started applying the molding material to the tinfoil in thin layers just to get it coated.

.
Step 3!
After applying another thin layer I started adding small amounts to various parts of the tooth to start bringing out the final shape that I wanted.

Step 4!
I started applying small details like lines, cracks, and decay marks into the tooth to give it some much needed texture.

Extra!

Some of my tools! brushes and bobby pins (not pictured are the cutlery and the other small things I used to add detail like a small star wars toy)

Next steps will involve painting !!!

media fundementals work

I was uploading my work to my album on facebook for school work and thought I would post this because I really enjoyed how it turned out. It is a section of a photobook I worked on and I chose to do a small biography of sorts on Flight of the Conchords.

bored work

I was bored at home today waiting to go to school for my video class so I decided to play around in illustrator a bit. I made a little monkey (in which I was inspired by the Japanese Pop Art video we watched in class) and also wanted to try out the blend tool. I used the blend tool on the background and I am looking forward to new ways to mess around with it.

Logo Copy in Illustrator

In DMA101 we were tasked with duplicating the Colorado Avalanche Logo. Using only the pen tool I was able to do just that. The first image is an image of the logo I googled and the second image is the logo I made in Adobe Illustrator.

Timed Painting

So this past week in the adventures of DMA 179 were fairly eventful! We were given around 5 minutes to paint (without sketching first) 4 various items. The items were a robot from the matrix, a wooden human figure, an M&M and one of the aliens from Starship Troopers. Needless to say I wanted to steal them but I did not. Like I mentioned before I am not the strongest painter but considering the constraints of the assignment I don't think I did tooooo horrible on them!

creatures and Hodgson

The art of Derrick Hodgson (His official Website here) is definitely something that intrigues me greatly. I really enjoy the simplistic and minimalism in his design. I like how his work looks primitive but also very well planned out at the same time. My work that I completed which I think reflects his style includes a creature that I made which was modeled after my cat and a painting of Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4. My painting skills are definitely sub par but I wanted to experiment and see what I could do. I enjoy my creature but I am not fully satisfied with Old Snake.

My Super Power

The assignment to come up with a super power was pretty enjoyable and I decided to go with the ability to create anything out of nothing as my super power. The origins of my power came from falling into a vat of Play-Doh as it was being created. Fortunately I survived and was then able to have the power of creation. I explored the various good and bad uses of my new found power, what my personal gain would be and also what could be next.

Make a bunny? Okay!

So this is my creation after being told I had five minutes to draw a bunny. I guess you can tell I did not go with the "traditional" fluffy bunny look as I drew a guy in a bunny suit holding a beer. At first it was just drawn with a fine tip marker but afterwords I went over with water colour paint.

It will be awesome!
