another logo

So I was at home sick today so I decided to get some homework done. In DMA101 we needed to recreate another sports logo and I decided to do the grizzlies because I just like it. The first image is the one I used to copy from and the second image is my work.

T-Rex style!

This is the style guide I completed to go along with the tooth model I created. I think it turned out fairly well! Click the image to make it bigger and more readable.

my what big teeth you have - Part 2/2

So I applied the paint to the tooth and I think it came out pretty well! I am definitely not a strong painter like I have said before but I enjoy how this turned out. I was going for an old and fossily look and I think it turned out how I wanted it.

my what big teeth you have - Part 1/2

The building of the T-Rex tooth is being blogged!

Step 1!
I started out with a wire hanger and I bent that into shape as to accommodate the tooth. I then wrapped tinfoil around the hanger in a rough idea of the shape I wanted the final product to look like.

Step 2!
I started applying the molding material to the tinfoil in thin layers just to get it coated.

.
Step 3!
After applying another thin layer I started adding small amounts to various parts of the tooth to start bringing out the final shape that I wanted.

Step 4!
I started applying small details like lines, cracks, and decay marks into the tooth to give it some much needed texture.

Extra!

Some of my tools! brushes and bobby pins (not pictured are the cutlery and the other small things I used to add detail like a small star wars toy)

Next steps will involve painting !!!

media fundementals work

I was uploading my work to my album on facebook for school work and thought I would post this because I really enjoyed how it turned out. It is a section of a photobook I worked on and I chose to do a small biography of sorts on Flight of the Conchords.

bored work

I was bored at home today waiting to go to school for my video class so I decided to play around in illustrator a bit. I made a little monkey (in which I was inspired by the Japanese Pop Art video we watched in class) and also wanted to try out the blend tool. I used the blend tool on the background and I am looking forward to new ways to mess around with it.

Logo Copy in Illustrator

In DMA101 we were tasked with duplicating the Colorado Avalanche Logo. Using only the pen tool I was able to do just that. The first image is an image of the logo I googled and the second image is the logo I made in Adobe Illustrator.

Timed Painting

So this past week in the adventures of DMA 179 were fairly eventful! We were given around 5 minutes to paint (without sketching first) 4 various items. The items were a robot from the matrix, a wooden human figure, an M&M and one of the aliens from Starship Troopers. Needless to say I wanted to steal them but I did not. Like I mentioned before I am not the strongest painter but considering the constraints of the assignment I don't think I did tooooo horrible on them!
